Although hair transplant is a modern method had got huge popularity as well advances in coming time. Yet people has some ifs and buts before they proceed with the same. One such perceived worry is if the hair transplant procedure is painful or not.  Often any surgery is associated with high amounts of discomfort and a recovery time that will take longer duration, but the scenario is not the same with a hair transplant surgery. Let’s read more about it. At AISHH.Hair Transplant, Dr. Indu is well-trained in the latest and safest technique of hair transplantation.

The steps followed at our centre are:

Consultation – The entire process starts with consultation. We first access the type of baldness and cause using trichoscopy technique and learn about your medical history, before starting with any procedure.

Photographic documentation is done in all possible angles.

Local anesthesia is applied before surgery that means, you won’t feel any pain at all. We prefer ring anaesthesia with block anaesthesia.

Harvesting hair graft – In FUE with the help of an electronic punch individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor areas (usually at the back of the scalp, beard and body hair can also be taken). Simultaneously the grafts are counted and separated.

Preparing the bald area– Small slits with needle are made in the bald area considering the amount of graft available and area to be transplanted.

Implantation-The extracted grafts are then implanted in the slits.

And in FUT, hair follicles are harvested differently and then inserted in areas required. In FUT, small strips of hair follicles are removed from the sides and back of the scalp and after dissection, the hair follicles are put into the bald areas.

Recovery phase – We then discharge the patient same day with following instructions. Clear and in written on how to manage your things during the recovery phase in the coming weeks.

How to take care of your mild discomfort (if any) post surgery

Based on your selected clinic and surgeon, you will receive guidance on how to manage your discomfort. Every surgeon has their own protocols and prescribed methodologies to lower the recovery time and any discomfort. Often most patients don’t require any additional relief methodologies, but lesser the pain it is always the main motive of any hair transplant expert.  Often the medications prescribed are, Prednisolone to remove any kind of swelling, Tetracycline to prevent any infection and Paracetamol as a pain remover if any, post surgery.

The healing phase

This phase leads to some concern for a few. Some dermatological rashes or redness, post-treatment is quite normal and this will go away over a few weeks.

When you have any doubt or any queries regarding hair transplant, it is always wise to consult an expert.
